• Skybox Metal Universe Champions features a large number of domestic and international high-end prospects and young stars from a variety of sports. There are also a few sporting legends, media personalities and musicians. With diverse checklists, beautiful designs and a bevy of tantalizing chase cards, Skybox Metal Universe Champions provides one of the most exciting box and case breaks in the world of card collecting and is a favorite amongst collectors!

• The base set consists of 100 regular cards - each sporting a unique background design provided by the team that created the original 1997-98 Metal Universe set - and 50 high-series All-Millennium cards (a new name and design for the high-series subset).

The parallel lineup is deep and full of chase cards, highlighted by the coveted Silver Auto, Gold Auto (low-#’d) and Precious Metal Gems (PMG) parallels: Red (#’d to 100), Blue (#’d to 50), Green (#’d to 10) and Gold (#’d 1-of-1). Additionally, there are two all-new Light FX parallels: Pink FX (#’d to 75) and Orange FX (#’d to 25).

• The 2023 edition sports a wide variety of intriguing inserts, including several new additions:

o NEW! Dark Matter: Lucky collectors will pull one of these rare gems built on black soft touch stock! Several of the biggest names in the product are featured in this new insert.

o NEW! E-X: These brightly-colored cards with a PETG back, a die-cut Rainbow Foil top sheet and a popped-out prospect or legend are sure to be a hit! Collect one (1) per box, on average, and keep an eye out for low-#’d Essential Credentials Then and Essential Credentials Now parallels.

o Fresh Foundations: The checklist for this popular insert features only top prospects and young stars. This set also boasts a new design and the same parallel lineup as the base set!

o NEW! Gold Universe & High Voltage: Printed on pattern rainbow foilboard, both of these beautiful new sets feature several of the biggest names in the product. Collect at least one (1) card from each set per box, on average.

o Golden Touch: This case hit returns after a successful 2022 debut. It is a revamped version of a classic insert that features a perimeter die-cut and a best-of-the-best checklist.

• 2022-23 Ultimate Collection is loaded with autographs - all of which are hard-signed!

• The 200-card base set consists of 75 star veterans #’d to 149, 25 legends #’d to 149, and 100 rookies (via the Ultimate Rookies Autos subset) #’d to 299 or 99.

 There are four non-auto parallels (Gold, all-new Blue, Purple & Black) and four autographed parallels (Auto, Gold Auto, Purple Auto & Black Auto) of the vets and legends. Except for the Auto parallel, all are #’d to 35 or less.

DISNEY LORCANA TRADING CARD GAME IS A NEW WAY TO PLAY WITH YOUR FAVORITE CHARACTERS

Disney Lorcana: The First Chapter is a new trading card game that gives us a fresh outlet to play with our favorite Disney characters and create epic crossovers. Would Maleficent and Cruella de Vil be friends or foes? Could Stitch endear himself to the likes of Captain Hook? And would Robin Hood and Elsa make a good team? Those are the six characters that make up the first set of Disney Lorcana trading cards. The game was announced at the D23 Expo, but it will launches in August of 2023, with new sets released four times a year. The trading cards will show off more original Disney artwork than any other product, and from what we’ve seen so far, the cards are all beautiful.

Disney Lorcana Character Cards

Disney Lorcana is a partnership with puzzle and game maker Ravensburger, who has lots of other great Disney content. Fans at the D23 Expo were able to buy an exclusive first-edition pack of the cards. They also got their hands on an exclusive Mickey Mouse card called “Brave Little Tailor” that isn’t part of the set. The other characters have their own unique abilities. Captain Hook is listed as a forceful duelist and has a sword for a hand. Maleficent appears in her dragon form in the Disney Lorcana trading cards, while Cruella de Vil’s strongest quality is “miserable as usual.” I wonder how that presents itself in gameplay. There’s also Elsa the Snow Queen, Robin Hood, the unrivaled archer, and Stitch as a rock star. Certainly an interesting lineup.

As for how the game will work, Ravensburger shared the basic mechanics of the Disney Lorcana game. “Players will take on the mantle of Illumineer, a powerful sorcerer, and band together Disney characters from Lorcana’s “The Great Illuminary,” a treasury of all Disney songs and stories ever made.” Additionally, a new Lorcana card revealed introduces the idea of “action cards” to the game.

More Disney Lorcana Cards: From Maleficent to Olaf

The “Dragon Fire” Lorcana card features Disney’s Maleficent in her dragon form, “breathing cursed green fire.” Use of this card will allow players to “banish [a] chosen character.” At this time, we don’t yet have any further information about gameplay mechanics for Disney Lorcana. But we do feel excited to learn more.

We also got a glimpse of another new Lorcana card, which brings a familiar face to the table, Olaf. Warm hugs for all! And most recently, Disney’s Jumba Jookiba and Princess Aurora joined the ranks of Lorcana.

Disney Lorcana’s Release Date and More

Finally, all that Disney knowledge rattling around our brains will win us more than just trivia contests! Disney Lorcana will first launch “at local game stores” on August 11. That will follow with a release via mass retailers on September 1st.

The game will release in United States, Canada, United Kingdom, France, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Belgium, The Netherlands, and Luxembourg. And the game will come in English, French, and German.

layers will be able to purchase starter decks of 60 cards in “two of the six ‘inks’ — Amber and Amethyst, Emerald and Ruby, or Steel and Sapphire.” These decks will come with two foil cards of the characters on their boxes and also include a booster pack (12 random cards, including one foil card and one card of varying rareness) and game tokens. More robust sets will also be available for purchase. Additionally, “themed playmats, card sleeves, deck boxes, and card portfolios featuring Disney Lorcana art will be available at launch.”

Ravensburger has lots of other licensed products from properties like Despicable Me and Minions. There are Star Wars puzzles and an Alien board game. Plus, some less obvious partnerships, like a card game for Taco Bell.

Last year’s 25th Anniversary Rarity Collection blew everyone’s socks off, so we started work on a sequel right away. In order to get it out as fast as we can, we’ve made some changes to the configuration while leaving all the good stuff (and value!) intact.

25th Anniversary Rarity Collection II packs have twice as many Ultra & Secret Rares per pack, which gives you twice as many chances at “luxury rares” per pack (Quarter Century Secret Rares, “Prismatic”-style Ultimate & Collector’s Rares, and Platinum Rares)!

We’ve cut back on the packaging, so there will be fewer packs you’ll need to open (and fewer foil wrappers to throw away) to get the same number of the cards you’re looking for. (And with double the cards per pack, about two-thirds of packs should have at least one “luxury rare”, this time, and around a third should have more than one. You could even get up to SIX “luxury rares” in the same pack, this time around!)

If you missed out on the first Rarity Collection, here’s how it works: Every card in the set is available in every rarity, with 3 “standard” rarities (Super Rare, Ultra rare, Secret Rare), and four special “luxury’” rarities: Quarter Century Secret Rares (celebrating the 25th anniversary with tons of sparkle and a watermark logo!), Platinum Secret Rares, “Prismatic”-style Collector’s Rares (previously available only overseas), and “Prismatic”-style Ultimate Rares (with special 3D varnish, and also available only overseas until recently).

Opening Rarity Collection packs is a rapid-fire waterfall of high-powered cards, in seven of the game’s most popular foil rarities. If you haven’t experienced this all-foil extravaganza yet, you’re in for a treat!

Each pack will contain:

2 Secret Rares (each with an individual 1-in-4 chance of being upgraded to a Platinum Secret Rare or Quarter Century Secret Rare)

4 Ultra Rares (each with an individual 1-in-6 chance of being upgraded to a new “Prismatic”-style Collector’s Rare or new “Prismatic”-style Ultimate Rare)

3 Super Rares
